Toni Foster is a photographer based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She works on long-term projects rooted in observation and sustained attention, returning to subjects and places over years as relationships between people, place, and time gradually reveal themselves. Her work explores how people navigate conditions they cannot fully control or know.
She is currently developing the photobook Being Here, drawn from a decade of photographs made on Vancouver Island between 2016 and 2026.
She typically works with a fixed-lens camera, removing friction between seeing and photographing.
